Sallie Smith GRAVES

Notes from Graves Family Newsletter:
Sallie Graves was born 12 March 1793 and died 26 May 1871.  She married Henry Harper Rogers on 30 Oct 1811 in Lebanon, Wilson Co, TN (according to Wilson Co. records on LDS microfilm).  John Farrington was bondsman. (Could he have been a brother of Nancy Farrington who married Bachelor/Bartlett Graves, Jr, brother of Sallie?).  Henry Rogers was born 29 Aug 1788 and died 2 Feb 1843.  Their marriage record seems to show that her maiden name was either Graves and she first married a Mr. Jones or her maiden name was Jones and she first married a Mr. Graves.  This raises the possibility that she was the Sally Jones who married Asa Graves in 1824.  That does not seem possible if her marriage to Henry Rogers was in 1811.  Also, her birthdate of 1793 makes her only 18 when she was married in 1811, not giving her much time for a prior marriage. More evidence is needed to sort out the possibilities.  If she was born Sallie (or Sally) Jones, then she wasn't a Graves at all, and her children by Henry Rogers could not have been Graves Descendants.

Notes from Linda Graves Walker:
I have a list of Rogers/Graves children, but am not including them until there is conclusive evidence that this Sally is a  Graves.  Also, the above does not document her middle name being Smith, so am unsure of how Smith/Jones/Graves relate, if at all, to this Sallie.

1850 Wilson County, Tennessee (widowed, with daughter Lucinda Chandler's household).
Sallie Graves is listed as "Sarah" and is living with her daughter Lucinda Green Rogers Chandler next door to her son Asa Graves Rogers in the 1850 census of Wilson County, Tennessee.
